Diagonal measurements can be made along an axis in a similar way to linear Laser interferometry measurements. The ANSI B5.54 standard specifies diagonal measurements to define volumetric performance of machine tools. This kind of test can be used as a quick assessment of a machine tool performance. The turning mirror supplied in this kit or available separately can also be used for calibration of axes where a clear line of sight is not available such as lathes.
